Cityscapes
Mars Z. 2020 – 2021
In these photographical artworks, Mars uses cluttered imagery and vibrant colours to depict a chaos and confusion in life created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Their often indecipherable landscapes and clashing colour palette reflect a warping of life which many people, including themself, experienced as very mentally and emotionally disruptive. Through their work, Mars aims to communicate this, and show the differences in the way they, and others, experience crises such as this.
Their later work also ties in with their love for textiles and textile art, through their repeating patterns and often tactile images.
