Adult Media + Creatives Courses
We’ve been teaching adults photography and the creative applications which are part of the visual media tool kit for over 20 years. Having ourselves transitioned through the analogue to digital to mobile revolutions we bring a wealth of knowledge to each course or one-to-one training session. Our clients tend to be those with a smartphone or a newly acquired 35mm camera and for professional or personal reasons wish to skill up, moving from “winging it” to confidently applying compositional and technical fundamentals in their image making; shutterbugs looking to exercise their creative muscles through different topic clinics; and finally those looking to manipulate images through either post-production software or the ongoing practice of narration through editing and layout. Editing, Narrative and Visual Literacy
Students who have learned the fundamentals of exposure and camera hardware systems are quick to recognise that like the written word, photography is a language which requires knowledge beyond shutter systems and f-stops. Picture layout systems and image selection for presentation in webpages, newspapers, magazines, books and even exhibitions require a certain skill for “image-smithing”. The ability to narrate through your images requires a certain visual literacy and can greatly improve the quality of your story.
Our brand of editing, narrative and visual literacy course works on getting photographers to pinpoint their photographic style and flesh out their reason for making. The exercises are aimed at getting comfortable with expressing personal, even intimate agencies at work which are behind your photographic process. From there we support the journey you accept and take on as a photographer moving through a new personal vision until we see samples of work which lay in tune with your values and goals as an image maker.

Film making
Film making can happen in a number of areas. In our time teaching we have been asked to train builders to learn how to edit time lapse of building projects, parents helping children with science projects, those heading off (after the pandemic) to foreign lands and wanting to interview or record, to charity workers sent to skill-up.
Software is as easy as your teacher makes it and this is where we win high scores. Guided by patient and experienced experts both in their field and at training, we knit together the skills over your sessions with us, growing your confidence in a mesmerising creative process. Layers of visual footage, sound and music can create a symphony of media streams. It’s a magical process to see a film emerge, made by you.
