PROJECT BRIEF

Central Saint Martin’s Innovation introduces companies to CSM graduates through collaborative projects.  The brief called for one graduate’ proposal to be selected for a ground level, street facade window display at Getty Images headquarters in Camden, London. The location is on a very busy street and receives thousands of views each day. The challenge was two fold – create a narrative which could communicate and engage the passersby whether pedestrian or vehicular; inject some vitality into a street which is surrounded by tired, ‘box’ brick buildings. The candidates were to select images from Getty’s mammoth picture library and have four months to establish a narrative from the material. Karl was asked by Innovation to attend the CSM grad shows and make a selection of potential designers and work with the final five candidates from fleshing out ideas at the germination stage, support through the developing stages to mentoring on the final presentations of projects before a board of creatives and management at Getty Images.
